Reporting to the Resettlement & Reintegration Manager (Allan), the Education Coordinator is responsible for the co-ordination, delivery, and assessment of education services to prisoners. This includes basic numeracy and literacy, TAFE, and Vocational Education and Training. We are seeking someone with current or recent experience teaching literacy and numeracy in an adult learning environment, with a Cert IV in Training & Assessing.
The core responsibilities of this role are to:
- Co-ordinate the delivery of a range of educational programs to prisoners in conjunction with external education providers, teaching those with different levels of education.
- Facilitate and coordinate the delivery of on campus and off-campus, external, distance, and computer-based learning programs, including business studies.
- Supervise and monitor the progress of those prisoners participating in the ‘paid education' work program.
- Conduct literacy and numeracy assessments (NLERDT tests) on prisoners.
- Develop resources to be used for literacy, numeracy, and business studies.
- Deliver in-house Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Food Safety programs.
- Fully vaccinated (2 doses) against Covid-19.
- A current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE).
- Current or recent experience teaching Literacy and Numeracy in an adult learning environment.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills.
- A tertiary qualification in Education.
- Experience teaching business studies.
