PhD in Electromagnetic risk assessment of wireless communications [Belgium]

At the research group M-Group, department of electrotechnical engineering, lab FMEC. Prof. Tim Claeys is working on the electromagnetic compatibility of radio equipment and wireless networks. In his research group, researchers work towards more dependable communications under the interference of (non-)intentional electromagnetic disturbances.

Project

The electromagnetic environment is changing rapidly, increasing the chance of interference with other devices severely. While at the same time the number of wireless connections for various applications, including mission- and safety-critical applications, is also increasing. This electromagnetic environment has the chance to interfere with these wireless connections and could lead to costly or dangerous consequences in mission- and safety-critical applications. Understanding why these wireless connections fail, and how to make them more resilient is the main research goal.

We are currently looking for highly motivated PhD students to work in this area.
